Psychiatry - Clinical Faculty

The Department of Psychiatry & the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is searching on an ongoing basis to recruit full-time clinical track faculty members at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, professor, and professor – clinical scholar.

Faculty recruits will join and assist in leading a department marked by growth and distinction. The 46 department faculty provide inpatient, outpatient, consult/liaison, and emergency care services, including a strong child/adolescent division, at seven public and private facilities across Los Angeles. In 2008, the 600-bed Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center opened, featuring one of the two largest-volume psychiatric emergency units in the United States. In 2009, USC purchased from Tenet Healthcare the private USC University and Norris Cancer Hospitals, comprising 471 beds, and representing a growth opportunity for the department.

In 2009, both the general psychiatry four-year residency (12 residents/year) and child/adolescent two-year fellowship (6 fellows/year) programs were awarded the highest five-year accreditation from the ACGME. The department also features a distinguished  forensic psychiatry fellowship program, enrolling three fellows per year.

Recruited faculty are expected to contribute in teaching and clinical roles, including maintaining a private practice within USC, and to help lead the continued growth of the department into the highest ranks of psychiatry programs nationally. Nominations and applications for these positions will be considered as they are received. Interested applicants should send their CVs to pato@usc.edu. Carlos N. Pato, MD, PhD, Professor and Chair, Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences.
